I assisted the Lighting Designer, designed Act 2, Scene 4, including the songs “The Most Amazing Thing,” “Days of Plenty,” and “Fire Within Me,” and made and updated spot paperwork for Act 1. The director’s main concept was to use the attic window in the March household. The lighting takes with it the delicate balance between a realistic interior and the vivid imagination and emotions of the March sisters.

I assisted the Lighting Designer and designed Act 2. With a reliance on Commedia dell'arte archetypes, the lighting designer selected a specific color palette for each character. This show was also marked toward children with developmental disabilities. A great challenge of this production was keeping the dramatic and playful flair of the script intact while also remaining aware of those with sensory sensitivities.

Using the rep plot left over from Little Women the Musical, the Baylor School of Music performed its opera on the March house set. I made some slight adjustments to the plot and had a wonderful time designing my first opera. Notes on Viardot, functioning more like a memory play, allowed for some creative choices with the color distinction between the present and the past of Viardot’s memories.

Henry V - Lighting and Projection Designer

The director wanted a concept based off a bunch of players playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons. This space was challenging as it was the size of an average living room. Set in a ¾ thrust, it was exciting to find the contrast between realist scenes and video-game-like fight sequences. This space was very small and was a fun challenge to do dramatic changes with very few lights.
